BASKETBALL VS MENTAL HEALTH
Andre Allen
Through out my years of playing basketball I've never had to think about my mental health because I always had the best coping mechanism there is "BASKETBALL". All of my hoopers out there know that whenever you are going through something you can go put up some shots and it seems like everything goes away, you forget everything. You forget your problems and learn how to turn those same problems into fuel to help you become a better basketball player. There is a side where someone is going through something that completely depletes their game and makes everybody say "what is he going through" and I think this what Paul George is talking about in this article. Him being away from his family and feeling alone in the NBA Bubble is what triggered him to realize that he needs to get help with his mental health struggles because even our number one coping mechanism can sometimes not be enough. PG13 reached out to his team mental health staff and got the help that he needs. As a normal person and not a multi million dollar super star or no where near that tax bracket we don't typically have the same resources as NBA players or people with jobs at companies that offer mental health insurance or resources. That's where Another Answer comes in, we help people find the mental health help that they need, we help people become more aware of mental health instead of brushing it off, and we connect communities to their local counselors. If you feel your job, community, or family needs to have more mental health resources don't be afraid to reach out to reach out to us at www.anotheranswer.org. We will assist you with bring more mental health resources to your situation. All in all this article is a great read, Paul George did an amazing job explaining his situation, and the way he is expressing himself you can tell that he got the help that he needed. The new National Suicide Prevention life line. This website is full of valuable information and resources for mental health! As I was scrolling through I found many resources that I will use in the future. It seems after the recent death of Stephen Boss, a lot of companies are taking mental health and suicide prevention more serious. Throughout this website I seen resources for black mental health, LGBTQ+, Maternal mental health, and much more. This is a definite must read!
